| "On the occasion of every accident that befalls you, remember to turn to yourself and inquire what power you have
for turning it to use." - Epictetus Chance, and constructed, encounters of geometric and organic forms fill my work. Things happen when elements mingle. Some marks collide, while others float and meander off site, beyond the frame, yet others may be loosely placed to suggest a landscape, or to reference nature. The contrasting play between the spontaneous dribble and the well-honed mark interests me. The accidental drips and splashes entertain me, and I respond with intent. The language I use is simple and basic in its stylization. I hope the viewer sees the complexity of relationships that can develop among simple forms, and embrace the work on two levels. On one level, it is an interesting analytical piece, and on another, it offers a space for quiet contemplation.
